THE COUNTRY WAS DAYS FROM GRINDING TO A TOATAL HALT THE PROTESTERS GAVE IN THINKING THEY HAD DONE ENOUGH THINKING THAT THINGS COULD AND WOULD CHANGE, WELL YES THEY COULD CHANGE BUT NO THEY DIDNT WE ARE STILL BEING RIPPED OFF WITH 300% TAXATION ON FUEL.
This time every one should stick to it. prove to the goverment that fuel is a basic nessesity in modern life and should not be treated as a HIGHLY TAXED LUXURY, let the goverment see just how much the country needs fuel. dont give in blockade all the fuel blockade the motorways and stick to it, LAST TIME THE GOVERMENT DID GET THE MESSAGE, THE WRONG MESAGE they got the message that if they just hide from it for a few weeks and do nothing about it the public will get bored and the problem will go away. DONT REPEAT THE SAME MESSAGE. HOLD OUT FOR 60 PENCE A LITRE AND DONT GIVE IN OR THINGS WILL NEVER CHANGE. DONT LET THE MOTERIST AND HAULAGE COMPANIES BE THE EASY TARGET FOR THE GOVERMENT TO MUGG ANY MORE.
I couldn't agree with your message more. The trouble is that the initial inconvience and slight pain of not being able to get your fuel makes people give up and by doing so, gives the Government the green light to continue with this extraordinary taxation. Please hang on in there this time - the gain will be for all of us normal people, who have to watch every penny.

I am what some would call a model citizen. Honest, hard-working, young family, tax paying etc etc. Protests were something that militants and student attended. And yet out of sheer desperation and frustration I attended my first and only protest in 2000 to try and reduce this blatantly unfair and crippling persecution of the motorist.
Every one of my 7 years of self-employment has been blighted by spiralling fuel, road-tax and vehicle insurance costs.
Madness beyond belief as without the ability to travel I have no business, it's that simple.
So each year I lose more and more of my shrinking profits to the motoring mafia and then get told that my council tax has increased by nearly 10%.
IT'S GOT TO STOP, NOW. I'VE HAD ENOUGH!
And simply put this government is going to successfully turn me into a criminal as I'm now willing to join virtually whatever action is considered necessary to make a serious and permanent improvement to this madness and if my council tax goes up by more than the cost of living next year I'm not paying it.
Well done Tony!

fuel protest

don't be deflected by the governments stance that it's high oil prices that are to blame for the current high fuel prices. Oil in general is relatively cheap. It is the tax on fuel particularly in the U.K which makes petrol at the pumps extremely expensive. Protest, and keep on protesting and you,ll get results. The French have the knowhow, lets follow their example for once, and if that means making a few sacrifices so be it, we can do it and win.Stick to your guns and don,t give in because ulimately we motorists have the power to see this government beaten on this issue. THE MOTORIST HAS FOR TOO LONG BEEN THE WHIPPING BOY for the chancellor. But where does the revenue go, certainly not on the roads. Spread the message, protest, protest and keep on protesting you have my full support.

Where else in the world do people stand for the "sh*t" we brits do. How the hell has Mr.Blair survived so long politically. He must wear an asbestos suit. Look at the petrol prices in Europe and the US. We are taxed left, right and centre and what for? This country has never been in such a state. Something has to be done. My job relies on the use of petrol so my proffits drop all the time. Should I stop working and live off the state? Why should I work? Stop blaming oil prices and reduce fuel tax NOW..! A garage 1/4 of a mile from here is charging 95.6p per litre, doesn't appear to sell much though. I'm having to pay 80.9p per litre. That is TOO MUCH..!

LAST WEEK I WAS DRIVING ON THE A68 ABOUT 25 MILES FROM NEWCASTLE NEALY OUT OF FUEL AND GETTING DESPERATE WHEN I EVENTUALY CAME TO A GARAGE I WAS DRIVING ON FUMES, AND IF I HAD NOT BEEN DESPERATE I SURE WOULDNT HAVE STOPPED 99.8 FOR A LITRE OF DEISEL AND THE GUY IN THE GARAGE JUSTIFIED THIS PRICE BY SAYING "PEOPLE DONT HAVE TO COME HERE THEY CAN GO TO THE NEXT NEAREST GARAGE" WHICH HE WENT ON TO INFORM ME WITH A BIG GRIN WAS 10 MILES AWAY I AM STILL P**SED OFF AT THIS GUYS ATTITUDE I BET WHEN THE NEXT SHORTAGES COME HE WILL BE ONE OF THE SELF MOTIVATED PROFITEERS WHO INCRESE THEIR PRICES TO MAKE MONEY OUT OF A LEGITIMATE CAUSE. WELL GEUSS WHAT I DROVE DOWN THE ROAD TILL I RAN OUT AND A VERRY NICE AA MAN GROUGHT ME 2 GALLON FOR NOTHING.
