G,day from down under down under. I use a minelab sd2200d. Always interested in any research info about Tas. Live on nw coast and have found all sorts of different metal nuggetts [silver, magnesium, lead ect;NO Gold yet]. Middle of winter now and too dangerous too go bush [west coast] at the moment, so i am doing heaps of research now. The largest nuggett was found at the Rocky River [240 oz] on the west coast. The North East is/was/could and should be best for alluvial according to research. Interesting point; Tas Gov is building a web site that will provide all current data for free. Should come on in feb2002 and www.mrt.com. is the Tas gov site at moment, but its gonna be great to access all the professional data and could this turn into a modern day "goldrush".

Any research on the south east? Around Houn and other areas? I have found little info on Cygnet but there have been alluvial mines there but most is not commercially viable. I have found a few flakes in an undesclosed area while panning and the mines dept says there could not be any in the area in which I found it so don't entirely rely on the website also it is and alluvial deposit. If you are findin good nuggets of other metal s do your homework and you could become quite wealthy without the gold.
