I have a 11"dd on my 2200d and want to use something else, I gather using the same setup as everyone else i am disadvantaged. I detect in central vic (fairly hot ground)
I have spent a good 20 hours plus detecting around tarnagula, vic in a total of 5 gullies, I found some junk, a belt buckle - but no gold. I was with a guy that had a gp he also found nothing so I think the areas we tried were already detected i am sure there is gold still out there - but diff coil setup gives u more flexability.
any suggestions which coil I should move up to?

thanks

joe

Hi Joe
I'm from Bendigo, and I go out most days. I use a modified SD2000, usually with the Mono coils, have never tried the 19"
Cheers for now, Peter.

Hi Peter how are you?

Im from the western suburbs (sunshine nth) only 1 hour and 40 minutes to Tarnagulla.

Im using an sd 2200d and will be purchasing a 10" epp mono coil and a 14" dd on Friday.

I am also updating the battery pack to the 12 volt system. I am told it gives out an extra 10-15% in depth because on the normal pack as the battery is used up it looses the depth.

Feel free to email me - joe@labyrinth.net.au maybe we can meet up at tarnagula.

Up to you

Im a good young bloke and I am good company and not a pain in the butt.

Talk to you soon

Joe

Hi Joe
Good to know that your keen, Think about the battery idea, if you change batt's every 3 hours you dont run them down too much.
Would love to meet up some day.
Ever think of joining a detector club, there are outings every month to different areas and you make some good mate's, thats what I did and have never looked back it opened up a lot of ground that I didnt know about.
My Email is { doddpc@netcon.net.au } if you want to stay in touch, and if you want to join a good club you can come with me as my guest to a meeting and a field trip the next day. Anyway think about it.
Cheers for now, Peter.

Hi Joe

The coil set up The coiltek 14"dd and 10"mono are a good choice as is the 12 volt battery system...

and peters advise to join a club is a good.(hi Peter)

Also joe try this site as well theres people from all over aust and maybe a few around the corner from you.

check out the site for your self...and also think of joining the PMAV prospectors and miners assoc of vic as well they are our voice to the goverment and well worth joining as there a few issues about prospecting comming up very soon that will concern all of us prospectors.

hope this helps you out.

If you are looking to join a club I suggest you phone Lindsay Garrett of Sunbury Metal Detecting Club(phone 03 9308 3364) - they are not too far from you. They have a momthly meeting(first Wednesday of the month) and a monthly weekend camp out the weekend after the meeting with a free BBQ on the Sunday before breaking camp. Tey are a pretty good bunch of people - I joind them about 6 months ago.
