If all you need to do is get at the hands, you probably want to remove the movement-You'd need to do that to get at the crystal anyhow. Depending on the watch, there is either a button (kind of like the recessed setting pusher of a digital watch) to release the stem, or a screw, just above or below the stem. If it's a button, you pull the crown to the set position, push the boutton, and wiggle the stem out. if it's a screw, you back it off about 1 turn, and try to wiggle the stem out--keep backing off the screw about 1/4 turn at a time until you can wiggle the stem out.
