I've taken a ton of evo-psych classes as part of my major and I haven't had one professor who hasn't rolled his/her eyes when Robert Wright's name comes up. Basically because he doesn't have any creds and his argument is bunk. Real scientists discredited that group selection theory yeeeeeeears ago. But I guess for laymen it's all new interesting stuff. One of my professors actually considered assigning that book for reading as an example of what NOT to get out of evopsych. If you want the straight dope, check out the mating mind in my recommendations section :)

Wright has this round-about-way of saying absolutely nothing. Having read through the first third of the book I have learned more about the Victorian ideals and Charles Darwin than has been mentioned about this "New Science of Evolutionary Psychology" - which I assumed was the purpose of the book. Hehehe, Wright is rubbing off on me, I completely worked my way around actually saying this book, thus far, is a joke.
