All credit to David Batch for going on the radio and remaining positive. I have been one of his biggest critics, from day one, only because he was thrown into a job way over his head. Tovey took a long time to learn and Batch will need equally as long if he is to be given a fair chance. In hindsight we should have played safe and gone for experience, particularly as this appointment was the first major move by the club to get into one of the conference feeder leagues and sell the ground. This was the critical move in Stuart and Jez's planning, it had to be right, for us to finish half way and in the top six next season. To fail at the first hurdle is a disaster, thankfully had we teamed up with Cambridge United it would have been infinitely worse.
The reason I say all credit to David Batch is because, despite the critism, mainly justified, he hasn't turned on the fans. Unlike Tovey, he realises we pay a few quid and are entitled to our opinion. |
