Response to Give Kirkup the job

I can see the logic (I think) in bringing David Batch in to develop the Academy players and that was and still is a good idea. And with a UEFA 'A' license I'm sure he gave a good interview based on tactical theory. But whoever made the decision to appoint him as first team manager has possibly assumed his theoretical knowledge would compensate for his lack of managerial experience at this level.

Looking at the number of times the formation changed last night with players playing out of position I wonder if the players are clear about exactly what they are expected to do.

If this is on their minds then it's bound to stop them playing their natural game.

The result last night was a very ordinary but hard-working Salisbury side, with a simple game plan outplayed us in every department and as has been mentioned elsewhere, but for a brave display by Martin Davies, would have scored more.

In order to grind out enough points to survive we need to get back to basics, play a formation that the players are comfortable with and pick players in their regular positions.

Hopefully David Batch will lean heavily on the experience of Kevin Wilkin and Andy Kirkup who have surely been around long enough to know what we need to do to try and get out of trouble.
