Why City should groundshare

First, I am a United fan, who sees most City home games, just so you know.

OK, groundshare, why?

Because the City ground is pretty awful - I assume it is some way off Conference standards, and is further still from even looking half-decent apart from the main stand.

Of course, the site is worth a lot of money - but relocating to a brand new ground looks impractical based on United's attempts to access a new site and leave the Abbey.

So - go in with United, with money from the sale of Milton Road enabling the redevelopment of the Abbey into a genuine, modern, revenue-generating stadium. Share costs of running the place, and revenue from it. Re-name it if you really have to.

I can't see any other long-term, successful future for the two Cambridge clubs, both struggling in their leagues and with limited resources compared to their peers. Ground-sharing would increase revenue for both clubs with the redeveloped Abbey, split costs, and house City in a genuine stadium rather than the frankly unimpressive City ground.

If the likes of Milan and Inter can stomach sharing, surely two lower-rung clubs in Cambridge can?
