Response to Re: Why City should groundshare |

1000 capacity? No Richard, you are a bit off the mark there, that may be all we need, but it's not what is required by league rules.
We have to have a 3000 capacity just to be members of the Dr Martens Premier, if we ever have a team good enough, we will need a ground with a 4000 capacity for membership of the Conference. Once in the Conference we would be required to bring our ground up to 6000 capacity within two years of promotion (providing we stayed up of course).
The thing that concerns me about being in this 'brand new' ground along with it's revenue making potential would be the question of who get's what.
If the ground is capable of generating 'x' amount of money for example, how would it be split up? United would demand the lions share (after all the whole point behind their redevelopment plans was to provide enough funds for their Club to go forward in the world of professional football, that cost's alot of money as we know) City would have what was left, what if City started to climb the leagues? we would need more of the revenue, would United be happy to let us have it? how long would it be before arguments started between the two sides?
Perhaps there would be no conflict of interests. What would happen is a major question though.
I am not convinced that two teams that play in such different circumstances could happily co-habit in a single ground. There is something to gain from a move such as this for City, but as I see it United have the most to gain. | |
