| What we want is for City to survive. If we can continue where we left off on Saturday that is well within our grasp.
Whether or not it is down to David Batch we are becoming more difficult to beat and more difficult to score against. That is the basic requirement for any team to succeed.
We are not at a stage of the season where good passing football is our main priority. All that matters is results no matter how we get them. On Tuesday we played well and got a draw, on another day we might have won.
Now is not the time to debate whether or not David Batch is the right man for the job. We need to get behind the whole team and help them get the points.
When people talk about David Batch's signings they talk about a lack of goals from Roy Essandoh and Leon Gutzmore - I'm not going to argue with that other than to say they have been used in conjunction with other strikers and if they have failed to produce they have generally been either dropped or substituted, other strikers have been used. Adam wilde aside nobody has been finding the net regularly.
Billy Beall has failed to impress and quite rightly Steve Wenlock and Rob Sturgess are ahead of him in the pecking order, both are playing well. If an under performing Beall was keeping them out of the side then there would be reason to criticise David Batch's judgement.
Colin Vowden and Richard Skelly have both made a massive contribution to our defence looking much more solid, two very good signings.
Management is all about decisions, all managers will make good and bad ones. David Batch has had nowhere near long enough in charge to be judged. I can't see that our results or league position for that matter is greatly changed from what we have been used to over the past few seasons so why should David Batch be hounded out after a matter of a few months?
By all means talk about it once we (hopefully) get safe but for now our survival in the DMP is far more important. | |
