A win at Stafford

Response to Big effort needed Saturday

Had our settled and confident defence not been messed up by injury I would have more confidence of getting a win, Wignall and Wooding looked very shaky at Ilkeston.

However we are still creating chances, but we must start putting them away. Ilkeston created some good chances for themselves on Monday but we should have been 2-0 up in the first five minutes, then Leon missed a couple of very good chances in the second half, the first where he chested down Wilkin's flick on the six yard line (keeper did really well to block though) and then a free header from similar distance which he put a couple of feet wide. Matt Hann's pace was giving their fans a lot of worry, at one point he went down the wing past two of their defenders (they looked like they were going backwards!!), Wilde was a constant threat too. We may have a weaker defence (open to question) but i'm hopeful that we can get the goals we need to get a result.

BTW I went to see Kings Lynn v Kettering last night. Lynn are looking like real strugglers, they didn't muster a worthwhile effort on Kettering's goal until the 90th minute. On that evidence they could well go down.

New defence or not we do
