Groundshare

Sorry to bring this old chestnut up again. This week there was a Fans Forum at CUFC , and the subject of the City/United groundshare was discussed. The following is taken from their website...

"The main details of the merger with City were then explained to us. If a deal can be met between the two clubs what will happen is this:
1st and most importantly of all the redevelopment will be paid for, with the North Stand being complete.
Secondly there will be a new training facility, which will be for both clubs.
Then there will be a new site for which the reserves and youths of both clubs will play at. This will have a small stand so that the general public will still be able to watch all the matches."

So it seems this scheme will go ahead IF a deal with City can be agreed. I would be very disappointed, as to enter into ANY dealings with Cambridge United FC, WOULD BE AN EXTREME RISK, considering their financial status , particularly with the ITV Digital money not coming through. City would be selling their number one asset , the Milton Road site, to go into partnership with what is (in effect) a dead duck. Once our ground is sold , thats it - would would have nothing and would sink with them. I believe City as we know it, would cease to exist. I would be much happier if we just waited for them to go under and then we`d have the lot !

PS: I wish this word "merger" wasn`t used so much, it all sounds very fishy to me
