| I see from the City website that we beat Hinckley 3-2. Was it a good win, I see that we let in 2 goals in the last ten minutes, but good to see Essandoh back on the scoresheet. With Beall just signed, it looks like we have now got a strong squad to finish the season very strongly. Lets hope we can get full points from the next home games. Well Done City. |

But it wasn`t. At 3-0 up in the second half we were coasting, then the defence gave the ball away and their man was yards offside and ran on to pull a goal back , then the ref awarded a penalty for "ball to hands" outside the box and suddenly its backs to the wall. On top of that the kid who was supposedly the referee found seven minutes of stoppage time from somewhere.
Our goals came from Essandoh, a classy finish just before halftime, a Fox penalty and Challinor . I thought Challinor was back to his best tonight. Billy Beall was tenacious in midfield. Not sure Why Essandoh was taken off in the second half as he was playing very well. No sign of Louie Evans tonight, don`t know what happened to him. We will have to play better than this to beat Worcester. However a win is a win despite their ref-assisted comeback |

A good win and great to respond well to the drubbing we received last Saturday.
Lilywhite has given a very accurate review of what happened. The ref did help them with their comeback although i doubt it would have made any difference if Jon Challinor's effort shortly after he scored had gone in and not hit the post (even the rebound went their way, rolling straight into the keepers arms) City would have been 4-0 up. Challinor was excellent in the opening half an hour of the second half, his link up with Fox for his goal was brilliant. More of the same please Jon!
Billy Beall had a solid first game, for a little bloke he is very hard to knock off the ball, even muscle bound Scott Useless couldn't do it! Beall did well considering he was just plonked into the side, I doubt he has had a chance to train with City yet, he will be a good signing for us. | |
