It finished 1 -1 , Adam Wilde scored first but Salisbury equalised almost immediately. Game dominated by gale force wind.

Reserves lost 1-0 at Whitton Utd

salisbury

Thanks Andy. How did playing Fox in midfield work?

I was suprised he is valued so much and preferred to a normal midfielder (Robbie). Being small in height can't be good in midfield along with Beal. Surely we need strength and height to battle in the middle.

A strange selection.

Very worrying we aren't scoring goals especially after signing Roy and Leon.

Two points dropped

March 9 2002, 9:33 PM

Salisbury were a poor desperate team and we let them off the hook big style. Not many chances created in a game ruined by a gale force wind and two twits running the line. We had the best chances, Wilde could have had a hattrick. the one he scored was opportunist , but we let them off the hook straight away, when they scored with one of only two chances they had. The other would have given them a totally undeserved win in the 90th minute, Nurse produced a top draw save. I`m afraid the two up front, Leon and Roy were ineffective today and I`m concerned about the midfield, it lacks invention. putting Fox in midfield is a fair move as I think he could be converted to a midfielder. Skelly is a better defender in the left back spot. I`m not so sure about Wenlock playing at full back though. In my opinion the defence has looked shaky without Jack Wignall BRING HIM BACK. We must do better, Tiverton and Newport Co coming up,we have to play better to get anything out of those games.

Six wins at least , needed to think about safety

We should have won today!

Two points dropped!

I agree, WE dropped two points today.

Worst we've played for weeks. Wind badly affected the game. Point for you is good enough. Histon for us next season!

Histon will be swapping places with you, and becoming a local derby for us.

PS: Definately two points dropped for US...you were worse than Ilkeston

I agree we are not scoring enough goals through the front two - why not try Robbie N up front??

He was a prolific scorer a couple of years ago but Chris converted him to a midfielder - if anyone saw the Merthyr game a few weeks ago - he took his two goals very well - he may be worth a try!

Robbie Nightingale

March 11 2002, 9:01 PM

I agree with the "wizard" Robbie Nightingale should be given a chance. Robbie is and will always be a STRIKER, he is not a Midfielder or a Right Winger, saying that I've seen him play about 7 or 8 times this season and he has never looked out of place in midfield.
A few years ago when he was in the Youth Team at City, I think he scored between 30 or 40 goals in a season and if I rememver rightly he was out injured for about 6 weeks aswell.
If your reading this Batcy, GIVE ROBBIE NIGHTINGALE A CHANCE UP FRONT, he is City through and through and he won't let the team down.

What you say is true

March 12 2002, 8:10 AM

Robbie is Cambridge City through and through and won't let anyone down.

When he first came into the team a couple of years ago I would have said no way he can play up front because he has no pace, but as he has matured he has grown stronger and quicker, he could certainly be worth a try as striker again.

When our youngsters filter through we will have a team full of players with Robbies' attitude and committment to the club.....I look forward to that day.

Robbie

I agree with what you say about Robbie N, he is city through and through but it appears that since Beall and Skelly have arrived he is the one to suffer. He has done well for City. My big worry is that if the other youngsters see the way he is treated, will they want to stay with a club that doesn't look after their players who love the club.

I agree with you Trev. I'm Robbie's brother, I can definatly asure you that Robbie is City through & through. A few years ago he had a chance to sign for Cambridge United on a 2 year deal, when Roy McFarlane was in charge, but he turned it down because he loves the club so much, not only is he a player for City, but he is also a supporter, our dad used to bring us to all the homes games when we were younger.
I also agree with some of the other comments on here. Robbie is a striker. SIMPLE. He should be given a chance up front, he will score goals for the team.

Moving away from this, after reading through some recent comments, I can't beleive what is being said about Jez George, If he hadn't taken over as commercial Manger when he did, this club would have been in a right state by now. Give the man the respect that he deserves!!
