I was there and it was a point gained, definately. We didn`t play that well but then again neither did they. It was a dour struggle between two sides desperate for points. I cannot remember too many chances being created by either side although both sides had half chances. They scored right on half-time, Martin Davies fumbled a freekick down by his post and their bloke buried it. Wildey equalised from a good move in the second half, but we never really looked like getting another, and they only threatened really from set plays. Steve Wenlock escaped a redcard when he tangled with their bloke in the first half, when he was the last defender. Looked grim from where I was, but he got away with it. Not much else to say really, the important thing was that we didn`t lose. Hopefully Wildeys goal will be on the official website, video clips later this week
For the second game running the defence looked very solid, all four played well and limited King's Lynn to a few half chances. Davies looked a little unlucky with the goal as the ball bobbled but I think he will be disappointed that he didn't gather it cleanly.
The introduction of Gutzmore livened things up a bit and he combined well with Wilkin down the right flank to create the goal. After a neat one-two Gutzmore fed Wenlock who played in an unmarked Wilde on the left hand edge of the box and again he finished well.
It was a tough scrappy game where we battled well, neither team ever showing a great deal of quality. No complaints about the point though, we will be much happier with the result than they will.
Having just got back (via the pub) had time to reflect that it wasn't the best of games but the most important thing we came away with was the one precious point. That's now 7 points out of the possible 12 in the last four games - but another 6pointer next Saturday - wont be easy everyone fighting for survival!
We conceded a soft goal but the defence played well - good to see Leon liven things up nearly scoring with his first touch, header going wide - and a nice play 1 -2 to help set up the equaliser
i know wen u follow this post u will think i am a sore loser but u should of gone down to 10 men after one of ur defence was last man and took out some1 when he was thru on goal and certain to score then we should of had a penalty when in da box one of ur players a player down and the lino was ****e and u had one shot and scored from it
to start wiveit wernt even a fowl so u was luky 2 scor the over one wernt a penilte cos our nomber 4 jus got in front of yor playre ho dived and shold ave bin sent orf
I think this Jamie G has got a mobile phone jammed up his arse!!
It's interesting that he thinks we may consider him a bad loser after reading his post, but c'mon I know things are bad for Lynn and you don't win too often but they didn't lose did they? so how can you be a bad loser Jamie?
Well done to City, not a great performance, a bit worrying how we seem to lack any attacking ideas most of the time but a good battling point on a difficult pitch against awkward opponents. We looked better when Leon came on, but why is it that Gutzmore and Essandoh only look effective when they come off the bench? when either of them start a game they always get substituted.
We scored a well constructed goal, it made my annual away trip all the more enjoyable, Wildey seems to be on good goalscoring form now, let's hope it continues.
By all accounts it doesn't sound like we played that well but we didn't lose, that's the important thing. The Walks is never an easy place to go, so to get a draw without playing that well is good.
Two games unbeaten, in fact we have taken 7 points from our last 12 available, keep that up and we will comfortably see off relegation. Let's hope we get a result when we visit Hednesford this coming Saturday fo another "six pointer".
Reading between the lines , it seems we were below par but still got a result of sorts. I missed the game because of business, but was delighted we picked something up from the game...Roll on Hednesford!
Looking at the table, Chelmsford must be suddenly looking over their shoulders now
It was a good result considering previous games, but we're not measuring on a curve!!!!
The fact is we're managing to gain points even with David Batch as manager, which is some sort of miricale!
Hopefully if luck is on our side which it has been for the last two games we will stay up, but the problem of David Batch will still remain - something needs to be done because i for one don't want to see city in the same mess as what we are in now!!!
We as a team are not playing well, we are getting by, which is ok for now but not for next season!!
David Batch must go if not now then before next season, so that he can't do anymore damage!!!!!
There was nothing lucky about Saturday's result, we played well against a poor side and got the three points we deserved
Yesterday we didn't play so well, worked very hard and got a deserved point
I don't think saying we were lucky is at all fair and undermines the committment of the players. I'm sure they will have been very satisfied with their weekend's work and rightly so. Over the last two games we have for the first time in ages looked solid, well organised and settled. The defence in particular are playing very well.
We have taken 7 points from a possible 12. As we now have a chance to build on a couple of solid displays and hopefully use the confidence that will instill to grind out the points we need now is the time to get behind the team.
Some people still seem to want to have a go at David Batch even though we are now collecting points. Now is not the time to start that all over again. We need to concentrate on finishing the job and get to safety.
Its time to change the record with Batch. He's not going to resign and the board wont sack him even if we go down, heaven forbid. The two games over Easter proved one point. You have to play players in their proper positions. Not great performances, but a lot better and coherent. Agreed, the defence looks really solid with the present back four. I thought Sturgess was good for the first 60 minutes on Saturday. Showed some much needed calmness in midfield. Shame he was dropped fot the KL game. I hope these games make some fans keep of Adam Wilde's back for a while. His three goals over the two games were sheer class.
Just the sort of comments that have set the support of the club backwards!
Regardless of the recent wins and draws, you look for failure, when will you "half empties" remember that the lads go onto that pitch to play for Cambridge City, not just Batchy or any manager you may wish was installed instead.
Your crass comments are unhelpful not only to the club and its supporters but to the players who try their hardest for this club.
