"David Batch has been chasing this player throughout the summer and his patience and negotiating skills have enabled us to capture one of the highest rated players in our league last season"
Yes, Bloomfield would be a very good signing, but I would be surprised if he fails to secure a place with a pro club, but in the current financial climate...who know's.
On the Kettering forum it is pretty clear now that Darren Collins has agreed to sign for CITY,my friend
who supports the poppies believes he will do a good job for us.
He's old and tired. We saw what happened to Kettering rejects at Kings Lynn last season.
Danny Bloomfield would be a better bet, but lets face it. We're far too low profile a club for such an up and coming young player to sign for.
He's not going to be happy plying his trade in front of so few spectators.
If our new signing is Collins I for one will be very happy. Darren Collins is no Kettering reject. They wanted him to sign again for them to play in the Conference, but because of the Poppies cash problems and subsequent wage cuts he has left, as have a number of others from Rockingham Road. At 33 he is hardly old and tired and his experience plus a few goals (14 last season - scored a blinder against us at Milton Road) will not only benefit City as a whole but also help hugely in bringing on our Academy strikers who have joined the First Team squad for the coming season.
It seems to me that whoever we sign, there are people like you who instantly dismiss them as no good.
As for Bloomfield, yes he would be a great signing, but not surprisingly, he is looking to join a pro club and we can't compete with that. Would you expect him to turn down an offer to stay pro in favour of joining City or any other non-league club for that matter? it's got nothing to do with being low profile as you put it. If he doesn't find a full-time place then there is every possibility that he will join us.
Incidently, have you ever seen Bloomfield play?
Take some advice, try supporting what the club does rather than sniping, you never know, you might like it!
Surely Kevin Wilkin has experience enough to bring on the academy strikers. The main benefit of signing Darren Collins is that he keeps an academy player out of the side, Thank God.
People like you make me sick. When our youngsters mature into club assets, people like you are going to have to eat a whole lot of humble pie, and for the record i don't remember any of them costing us ANY points. You really must be a short-sighted twat to blame 17 year-olds for what happened last season.
Kevin Wilkin by his own admission wants to wind down his playing activities. Collins will be a good signing.
The answer to your question is none. Indeed, they helped us win a few points. In particular, Robin Sturgess helped shore us up in a few important matches and Steve Thacker had a superb game against Newport IOW.
I'll bet if you looked at Darren Collins' butt cheeks he'd have a tattoo saying 'best before April 2002'.
I saw Danny Bloomfield play at Kings Lynn on three ocasions. The 11th, 15th and 29th of December.
He scored on each occasion.
We were away on those dates incidentally.
