Our last season in the Premier we had 9 points a Christmas, if we beat Halesowen on Saturday we will have equalled it in three games.
Have to admit is was a tight old "battle" the ref seemed VERY poor as I'm sure both sides will admit. However I think the better footballing side won on the night, as Cambridge seemed to rely on the heavy handed tactics a little to much.
Great result for us, and some signs that we knwo how to deal with the physical approach.
The Teletext table makes great reading.....3rd one of 3 teams to have won both, meanwhile at the other end ???
Cambridge.
Best of luck for your other 39 games, see you in the new year.
You must be feeling lucky.
That was one of the most one sided games I have seen in years.
After going behind early on and surviving another early scare Cambridge completely dominated the game, virtually all of the last 65 minutes was played in and around the Grantham penalty area.Every knockdown etc. seemed to fall to a Grantham foot. The ref. was poor and denied us the most certain penalty you'll ever see in the second half.
Well done City, except for the result, some great football at times, and great commitment.
But don't get carried away,Grantham were not in the same class as Newport.
The only reason you had so much pressure was because the referee kept giving you free kicks for fouls by your players - a real double whammy. How many good chances did you create? Managed to scrap some goalmouth action that's all
"obvious penalty" - joker! You clearly didn't see the Grantham keeper being mauled by your lot which created the scramble in the 1st place. Same old Cambridge - always cheating. Remember, Chris Cleaver
OOOOhhhhhhh perleeese!!! stop your bleating and put your toys back in your pram!! still banging on about Chris Cleaver? the bloke wasn't even a City player at the time, he was on loan, it's hardly down to us what he did.
If you want to know how many chances we created, ask your "MAN OF THE MATCH" goalkeeper, who saved your bacon on more than one occasion.
At least we can admit that we were outplayed in the opening 25 minutes, clearly your blinkers don't allow you to note that we did the same to you second half.
As for rough stuff, get used to it, we are well known for being one of the less physical sides, just wait until your defenders meet up with Tony "elbows" Hemmings at Tamworth to name but one.
