About right

The draw was just about the right result against Dover.
The way they played in the first half suggested that they had come for the point, they rarely made any real effort to get forward and it appeared that City were on top.
First ten minutes of the second half they pushed players on,our defence struggled and they got their goal.
Kevin scored with a typical near post header from a corner.
Good game to watch, some real whiners in the Dover side.
I thought the ref. did City a few favours.

Ref did us some favours

makes a change, doesn't it?

I thought just our usual luck when their goal deflected past Davies, i reckon it was going straight at him until it hit their No9 and went in the top corner.

Still the lads did well to battle back to get the point, we are slowly starting to improve.

Yes, but lady luck didn't

You have to wonder about good old fashioned good fortune, it really does seem to decide who will be up the top of the table and who will be down the bottom.

Take last night, when we had a shot at goal it was squarely blocked, a little fotunately on occasions, and yet when their bloke hit's one from distance it takes a wicked deflection off the back of one of his own players straight into the top corner!! Davies had no chance. Even when you look at how the ball arrived to him you have to wonder. The fella on the wing did show some good skill to get past two defenders, but then he slips over squirting the ball along the ground, which manages to find it's way through a sea of legs untouched to the bloke who had the shot to score!! City rarely get run of the ball like that.

At the end of the day I'm happy with the point, the game was anybody's in the end, at least it means two games unbeaten which is certainly an improvement. Jack Wignall apparently did well on Saturday, he did great again last night, as did Colin Vowden. I thought the team, considering how results have been going for us, showed great attitude last night to come back from what was a lucky goal in a game upto that point Dover had not looked like scoring in.

Lastly. I hope the poster further down the board who said Stafford were relegation material (and in doing so devalued our win) noticed that they beat Newport County last night, a team many think to be the best in this league, so our victory over Stafford wasn't so bad eh?

You make your own luck in football. Their guy at least had a shot at goal - if it goes in off a deflection, then the attacker still deserves it for having a go. We musn't get too far into any kind of persecution complex - Stafford should have had a last minute penalty on Saturday when Skelly clearly pulled their guy's shirt in the box, so this evens it out.

The more we have teams pegged back and get in a few shots (something we haven't done enough of to date - though last night was more encouraging), the more "luck" will be on our side over the course of a season.
