Finally.........some answers

by

Let me start by telling you that I am 28 years old, have 4 children ages 2, 5, 7 & 8, I had my TL on October 15, 1999, the day after my daughter was born.
For the past two years I have believed that I am going crazy. I have had hot flashes, chills, mood swings, crying bouts, what I thought were anxiety attacks, horribly painful periods (it feels like a knife going straight through my lower abdomon), heavy periods with huge clots that are lasting a week. In the past two years I have often joked with my husband about feeling like I was going through menopause (menopause at 26-28?) Last week I went to my family practice doc and told him about these symptoms and I told him that they started occuring after my TL and birth of my child. He diagnosed me with depression and panic disorder and put me on Prozac and Xanax. I decided to research the depression on the internet and came across a site about post tubal ligation syndrome. A light bulb went off instantly. This site listed all of the same symptoms that I am having. I posted on a tubil ligation site only to be bombarded by posters who do not believe that this syndrome is real. I know that it is although I do believe that it may not occur in all women. I am making an appointment to demand that my hormone levels be checked. I would like to hear from anyone who has undergone a successful treatment for this syndrome. Can hormone replacement therapy help? I'm 28 and refuse to live my life like this. I feel so cheated that I wasn't told of any of these side effects no matter how small the risk. I don't think that I would have had the surgery. Thanks for listening.

Take the Tubal Ligation I.Q. Test Are you outraged? Feel as though you and other women were not (are not) being informed? Think that a class action lawsuit should be filed on behalf of post tubal women because information was and still is being withheld by the ACOG! The CPTwomen invites all reading this forum to join the CPTwomen and communicate with us at the members' forum. All posting here and conversation here has been moved to the members' forum.

CPTwomen members have testified in front of the IL and CA Court, the IL Gov. Task Force, the Sunset Review Committee, (Senator Liz Figueroa), NOW, and more. What occurred has been made a matter of public record. The CPTwomen are making public the issues which millions of other women have faced in silence. Issues such as women are not informed at the time of their tubal ligation that there is a risk of hormonal imbalance occurring. For the CPTwomen to continue its mission to move this issue to the forefront of government, we must ask for a small contribution/subscription fee from all those who wish to communicate with us and participate at the Coalition's Bulletin Board
