I have a 20 yr old daughter and a 2 yr old daughter. I was happy with my birth control until after the second child...then decided I needed to do something else since my mom didn't go into menopause until she was 57 yrs old and I don't want any more babies (I am 42).
I used a cervical cap for 17 yrs with no spermicide...I am not crazy about putting any hormones into my body so I did not like the pill or implant or shots. My oldest has just had a terrible time with Depo provera...bad side effects including 100lb weight gain in a year! I had heard about the problems with vasectomies so I did not want my husband to do that.
I thought that a tubal ligation was the best answer!
I did not find anything in the medical literature that suggested ANY problems. I decided to do one more search to see if there was anything I should know.
Thank you to everyone here. This woman is not going to get a tubal. My husband agrees and we will look into natural family planning and continue with the cervical cap. A tubal is just too big of a risk. I could not change it after I had it...my insurance would not cover that. And the risks to my health are too great. After seeing the grief my daughter has to go through because of her hormones being messed up I would not want to go through it.
Thank you all for sharing your stories.\

CPTwomen members have testified in front of the IL and CA Court, the IL Gov. Task Force, the Sunset Review Committee, (Senator Liz Figueroa), NOW, and more. What occurred has been made a matter of public record. The CPTwomen are making public the issues which millions of other women have faced in silence. Issues such as women are not informed at the time of their tubal ligation that there is a risk of hormonal imbalance occurring. For the CPTwomen to continue its mission to move this issue to the forefront of government, we must ask for a small contribution/subscription fee from all those who wish to communicate with us and participate at the Coalition's Bulletin Board
