My Tubal, My Doctor

by Susan Stinson (no login)

I see that people are attacking Doctors for not informing them of the fact that some women do suffer after effects from a tubal. Not all Doctors are like that. When I first talked to my doctor about having a tubal, she didnt refuse. She did question it, I am 26 unmarried and I have only one child.

Think first thing she told me (before the "You might meet the man of your dreams speach") she told me of the possibilties of post tubal syndrome. She also told me that to resolve this I would have to go back on the pill or have to have surgery again. She called me (yes, she actually picked up the phone and called me herself) to make sure that this is what I wanted and I understood the risk and the permanent results of this procedure. She was in no hurry to make money off of me by performing this procedure. She made me think about it for two months before scheduleing the procedure.

The day of my surgery came. She asked me one more time if I was sure I wanted to do this. Of course I said yes.

I am very happy with my results. I never once felt un-informed. She the best gyno that I have had and I have had several due to changing jobs and ins companies.

We also need to take into account that we can ask question of others and we are on the all might WWW. I spent alot of time finding out what others had gone thru and was completly prepared the day of my surgery.

Take the Tubal Ligation I.Q. Test Are you outraged? Feel as though you and other women were not (are not) being informed? Think that a class action lawsuit should be filed on behalf of post tubal women because information was and still is being withheld by the ACOG! The CPTwomen invites all reading this forum to join the CPTwomen and communicate with us at the members' forum. All posting here and conversation here has been moved to the members' forum.

CPTwomen members have testified in front of the IL and CA Court, the IL Gov. Task Force, the Sunset Review Committee, (Senator Liz Figueroa), NOW, and more. What occurred has been made a matter of public record. The CPTwomen are making public the issues which millions of other women have faced in silence. Issues such as women are not informed at the time of their tubal ligation that there is a risk of hormonal imbalance occurring. For the CPTwomen to continue its mission to move this issue to the forefront of government, we must ask for a small contribution/subscription fee from all those who wish to communicate with us and participate at the Coalition's Bulletin Board
