Keep one thing in mind.....

Karen-
NOT ALL women develop PTS. We can not stress that enough. But, however, a lot do. The mailing list we have online has around 70 women in its around eight months of existence that do have PTS. You may be one of the lucky few that don't develop PTS. Think positive. I wish you the best of Luck!!
Dr's are quick to brush off our complaints as being "all in our heads." Funny, I have been keeping a log of my menstrual cycles. The symptoms are very real, to one degree or another with each passing month. But, they will say, that because I think it, it is happening to me. I really hate it when people say that to me. What happens to us is not psychosomatic in any way, shape or form. It is a very real syndrome affecting tremendous numbers of women all over the world. Unfortunately, though, the right people do not belive in PTS. Yes, some studies come out and say that it is real, but if the dr doesn't believe the study, then they don't talk about it to their patients. They force their beliefs on us. That is wrong.
Did you have any history of complicated menstrual cycles or female problems prior to your tubal? That has a bearing on if you get it or not, also, was it post-childbirth you had it done? I have recently read that that may play a role in whether or not you get it also. There are so many things that play a role in who gets it and who doesn't. We are still learning.
This is not meant to scare you in any way. You just may not be one of us, but it is good that you know about it, even if it is too late. You are not the only one. I found out five years too late. I don't regret my decision for permanent birth control. I had troubled pregnancies, so I mentally was done, as well as being set, with a lovely daughter and son. What I do RESENT is that I was not provided with the proper information prior to consenting to my tubal. I should have been told ALL possible risks to my health as a result. But, my dr didn't believe in it, so he kept quiet about it. He made it sound like a totally simple procedure.
Take Care!! Cheryl :o)
Also, what method did they do on you? That matters too. If you don't know, call and ask for a surgery and pathology report when they become available. You can pick them up in the medical records of your hospital of surgery, or at the dr's office. Your records are YOUR property, and CAN NOT be withheld from you. You may be charged a small fee, those cheapos, they make us pay for OUR records. But, get them, and read them. Inform yourself now that you know.Education is the key!

Take the Tubal Ligation I.Q. Test Are you outraged? Feel as though you and other women were not (are not) being informed? Think that a class action lawsuit should be filed on behalf of post tubal women because information was and still is being withheld by the ACOG! The CPTwomen invites all reading this forum to join the CPTwomen and communicate with us at the members' forum. All posting here and conversation here has been moved to the members' forum.

CPTwomen members have testified in front of the IL and CA Court, the IL Gov. Task Force, the Sunset Review Committee, (Senator Liz Figueroa), NOW, and more. What occurred has been made a matter of public record. The CPTwomen are making public the issues which millions of other women have faced in silence. Issues such as women are not informed at the time of their tubal ligation that there is a risk of hormonal imbalance occurring. For the CPTwomen to continue its mission to move this issue to the forefront of government, we must ask for a small contribution/subscription fee from all those who wish to communicate with us and participate at the Coalition's Bulletin Board
