Yes, it is true. We are NOT making this up. Go to the link for the Coalition of Post-Tubal women home page and read up on the information there.
PTS is a risk of a Tubal ligation(TL.) However, PTS does not happen in ALL women post tubal. There is no way to know if you are going to get it or not, you just find out when it happens, if you get a TL.
IF you have had a complicated menstrual history, then it is not a good idea to have one. In that case, the chances are good that you will develop it.
Don't be frightened by what you read. While it is very scary to read what is happening to us, and a LOT of it comes across in angry posts, it is infuriating to think that a person could do this to another person, it is not meant to scare you. PTS is real.
Read the info on the homepage and do some soul-searching prior to having your TL. The choice is ultimately yours, but I will say that if I had had this information prior to having my TL back in '93, I NEVER would have consented to it. I wasn't warned of the risk of PTS, as are most of the women that consent to TL.

Take the Tubal Ligation I.Q. Test Are you outraged? Feel as though you and other women were not (are not) being informed? Think that a class action lawsuit should be filed on behalf of post tubal women because information was and still is being withheld by the ACOG! The CPTwomen invites all reading this forum to join the CPTwomen and communicate with us at the members' forum. All posting here and conversation here has been moved to the members' forum.

CPTwomen members have testified in front of the IL and CA Court, the IL Gov. Task Force, the Sunset Review Committee, (Senator Liz Figueroa), NOW, and more. What occurred has been made a matter of public record. The CPTwomen are making public the issues which millions of other women have faced in silence. Issues such as women are not informed at the time of their tubal ligation that there is a risk of hormonal imbalance occurring. For the CPTwomen to continue its mission to move this issue to the forefront of government, we must ask for a small contribution/subscription fee from all those who wish to communicate with us and participate at the Coalition's Bulletin Board
