Help is on the way!

by Elizabeth

Dear Tammy,

I have just read your letter and want to give you a lot of information. I am 47 years old and had my tubal ligation performed 23 years ago. I had 3 cesarean sections in 4 years time and my doctor recommeded that I have a tubal. Prior to my tubal my periods were regular, like a clock. They also lasted for 5 days gradually tapering off. After my tubal, my periods were very irregular. For the last 20 years my periods can come from day 24 to 28 and I never know when. I am still having my periods and therefore have pleanty of estrogen. My periods last only 3 days and stop suddenly. Then within 24 to 36 hours I will get a spot of fresh new blood, and then continue to spot old blood, for another 7 to 10 days. I never feel clean. I am in good health, but have suffered for the past 23 years with all of the same symptoms as you. I have been patted on the head and told by many doctors, that my menustral cycle had changed, and that this was nothing to be worried about. I have experience and still do aching in my muscles, that started after my tubal. The doctors thought I had arthritis, but after test, could find known. They had no answer. I suffer from irritabile bowel syndrome, hair loss, lack of libio, can fall asleep just find, but can tell you everytime I roll over. In the morning, I have to drag myself out of bed. My skin is dry. my eyes are dry, my lips are dry, and my thyroid test is normal. I have developed circulation problems, and have just gotten used to waking up to pelvic cramping.
I have been a diligent exerciser, have taken calcium suppliments for 7 years, don't smoke, drink coffee or soda, and really try to eat healty. Inspite of all of the things I had been doing to try to help myself, I felt awful. In the last 2 years all of my problems, had only been getting worse. Now, I was also experiencing memory loss, severe back pain, and depression. I kept going to the medical profession for help, and found none. I finally starting researcing and found my own answers. I read a wonderful book by Dr. John Lee titled, "What Doctors may not tell you about menopause". He has one know which is about perimenopause, and is a must read for all women between the ages of 30 to 50. Why I am telling you all this is because, you are not ovulating, because your ovaries have been damaged by the tubal. You need to have your hormones tested by a saliva hormone test not a blood serum test. The saliva test is much more acurate, cheaper, and easier. The Aeron LifeCycles Clinical Laboratory in California is a fantastic facility that offers this testing. They have qualified professionals to assist you and are a reliable lab. Their number is 800/631-7900. They do testing for hospitals and Physicians, but you can order the test without a doctor.

I hope you find your answer, like I did. I feel 100% better, since I was tested and found out what I was missing. I am telling you this, because I truly believe all of the problems that I have experienced for the past 23 years are directly related to my tubal. I hope you can get your help sooner than I did and prevent some the of the damage that I incurred because I was not diagnosed properly, such as bone loss.

Hang in there and call the lab right away,

Elizabeth

Take the Tubal Ligation I.Q. Test Are you outraged? Feel as though you and other women were not (are not) being informed? Think that a class action lawsuit should be filed on behalf of post tubal women because information was and still is being withheld by the ACOG! The CPTwomen invites all reading this forum to join the CPTwomen and communicate with us at the members' forum. All posting here and conversation here has been moved to the members' forum.

CPTwomen members have testified in front of the IL and CA Court, the IL Gov. Task Force, the Sunset Review Committee, (Senator Liz Figueroa), NOW, and more. What occurred has been made a matter of public record. The CPTwomen are making public the issues which millions of other women have faced in silence. Issues such as women are not informed at the time of their tubal ligation that there is a risk of hormonal imbalance occurring. For the CPTwomen to continue its mission to move this issue to the forefront of government, we must ask for a small contribution/subscription fee from all those who wish to communicate with us and participate at the Coalition's Bulletin Board
