Misinformed?

by

Thanks to everyone that posted or emailed a response to my post. I did have the operation yesterday. Today, other than feeling groggy and sore, I feel okay. Everything I read about tubals indicated virtually no side effects. I only found this site a little more than 24 hours before my surgery, and I didn't read anything but the posts. I had no idea that tubals could cause these kinds of problems. My mother, who had one twenty years ago, said hers never gave her any problem. Of course, she also really wanted me to do this, so I doubt she would have said anything negative anyway. Before, I honestly felt like I was making an informed decision, but now I don't know. Anyway, it really is too late, so now I intend to fully educate myself on any negative symptoms I may experience. I have a return visit with my OB in two weeks. If anyone could email me and give some suggestions as to what questions I should ask her I would really appreciate it. My OB was wonderful during my high risk preganancy, but concerning the tubal she only informed me that they could grow back, not that I may experience any other side effects. I feel like I made an honest attempt to educate myself about this operation, but like I said, the majority of what I read was positive. I can't help but feel a little upset that any negative aspects weren't discussed with me by my doctor, who I put all my trust in. Anyway, thank you all for supporting me, and hopefully if this turns out to be a negative experience I can continue to draw on this support.

Take the Tubal Ligation I.Q. Test Are you outraged? Feel as though you and other women were not (are not) being informed? Think that a class action lawsuit should be filed on behalf of post tubal women because information was and still is being withheld by the ACOG! The CPTwomen invites all reading this forum to join the CPTwomen and communicate with us at the members' forum. All posting here and conversation here has been moved to the members' forum.

CPTwomen members have testified in front of the IL and CA Court, the IL Gov. Task Force, the Sunset Review Committee, (Senator Liz Figueroa), NOW, and more. What occurred has been made a matter of public record. The CPTwomen are making public the issues which millions of other women have faced in silence. Issues such as women are not informed at the time of their tubal ligation that there is a risk of hormonal imbalance occurring. For the CPTwomen to continue its mission to move this issue to the forefront of government, we must ask for a small contribution/subscription fee from all those who wish to communicate with us and participate at the Coalition's Bulletin Board
