"Awareness"

by

Hi everyone,
I was just over at Dr. Hufnagel's site, browsing, and I read someone's post about waking up during surgery. The same thing happened to me! Is this common?
It was the most terrifying experience of my life, because I was awake, but I couldn't move, talk, or even open my eyes, and I could feel what they were doing to my body. Luckily, they must have just been prepping or "posting", for lack of a better word, because they were just wiping my genitals down (none too gently, I might add). In my mind, I was flailing my head back and forth trying to let someone know I was awake, but in reality, all I could muster was a slight twitch after what seemed like an eternity of trying. Someone said "she's awake!" and put me out again, thank God. Then I remember them asking me right after the surgery if I remembered what happened. I mean, I was not even coherent yet, and still could not open my eyes and barely my mouth. At first I was confused, but then I remembered and said yes. The only reason I was even partially conscious was because the HORRIBLE cramps would not allow me to rest. I was curled up in a ball and moaning and they finally gave me some morphine, but it didn't even help. So they gave me a little more, which didn't help either, but they refused to give me any more. Did anybody else wake up during their surgery?
I had nightmares about it for weeks afterwards, and it still gives me the creeps to think about it. Sorry, I didn't mean for this to be so long! Thanks for listening, or reading, rather.
Jenifer :)

Take the Tubal Ligation I.Q. Test Are you outraged? Feel as though you and other women were not (are not) being informed? Think that a class action lawsuit should be filed on behalf of post tubal women because information was and still is being withheld by the ACOG! The CPTwomen invites all reading this forum to join the CPTwomen and communicate with us at the members' forum. All posting here and conversation here has been moved to the members' forum.

CPTwomen members have testified in front of the IL and CA Court, the IL Gov. Task Force, the Sunset Review Committee, (Senator Liz Figueroa), NOW, and more. What occurred has been made a matter of public record. The CPTwomen are making public the issues which millions of other women have faced in silence. Issues such as women are not informed at the time of their tubal ligation that there is a risk of hormonal imbalance occurring. For the CPTwomen to continue its mission to move this issue to the forefront of government, we must ask for a small contribution/subscription fee from all those who wish to communicate with us and participate at the Coalition's Bulletin Board
