Regrets after tubal suggested by dr

by

I had a tubal after the c-section birth of my 3rd child. My dr stated that it would be very detrimental to my health to have another child and that I should "just be thankful" for the 3 children I had. I knew the day of the c-section that I didn't want it done and I regret going through w/it. I have been very depressed since this was done in November of 1997. I was NOT warned that my periods would be worse w/this procedure or that PMS would be worse. There is no way I would have had this done had someone told me that my menses would be longer and heavier w/more pain, as I have had menstrual problems since the age of 9. Not only would I like to have another child (and another OB has stated that even though it would be high risk it could be accomplished, which the other 3 were high risk pregnancies) I would desperately like for the discomfort each month to end. Do I have any recourse at all? I feel like the OB/GYN that I trusted mislead me and now he says that he did warn me about the complications. Any help at all would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

Take the Tubal Ligation I.Q. Test Are you outraged? Feel as though you and other women were not (are not) being informed? Think that a class action lawsuit should be filed on behalf of post tubal women because information was and still is being withheld by the ACOG! The CPTwomen invites all reading this forum to join the CPTwomen and communicate with us at the members' forum. All posting here and conversation here has been moved to the members' forum.

CPTwomen members have testified in front of the IL and CA Court, the IL Gov. Task Force, the Sunset Review Committee, (Senator Liz Figueroa), NOW, and more. What occurred has been made a matter of public record. The CPTwomen are making public the issues which millions of other women have faced in silence. Issues such as women are not informed at the time of their tubal ligation that there is a risk of hormonal imbalance occurring. For the CPTwomen to continue its mission to move this issue to the forefront of government, we must ask for a small contribution/subscription fee from all those who wish to communicate with us and participate at the Coalition's Bulletin Board
