My guesses.... :o)

Hi Mindie!!
Was your tubal done with the cauterization method? I gather that is what you meant, from what you said in your post. You were 23 at the time, how old are you now?
First of all, the dr lied to you,in my opinion, tubals are not forms of "temporary" birth control, especially not when they cauterize the tubes. I am no dr, just an ordinary woman who happens to have PTS. Had to throw that in, didn't want you thinking I was a person of the medical field.
You just can't "get them undone" that easily. And, insurance companies most generally won't pay for the procedures' reversal. Granted, they do, but it is not the rule, it is the exception to the rule, in this case. You are a lucky person to have your insurance company cover this.
Just getting a reversal doesn't change things back to exactly the way they were before the tubal. Are you experiencing any complications with your menstrual cycles that you weren't before the tubal?
Most of the consent forms and dr's stress the fact that the tubal is "permanent." Your dr was being totally dishonest with you, in my honest opinion.
I have a friend that was told she could have the banding method done, which is the lesser of all the methods, yet still damaging, as a temporary form of birth control, and then simply have them undone when she wanted to become pregnant. Tubal ligations cause sometimes irreversible complications. The only hope for us now is FRS, female reconstructive surgery, done by Dr. Vicki Hufnagel. You can find information on FRS and Dr. Vicki on the coalition of post tubal women's homepage.
In past postings on the MB here, I have written a few times on my opinion of reversal vs. FRS. Go back and check it out. I am not sure just where it is, but look for postings by Cheryl or Cheryl R on the subject of reversal. I was going by that name back then, but since there are more Cheryl's here, I am using CMR to avoid confusion. :o)
I hope I didn't sound short or uncaring in this response. I know exactly where you are coming from. We all go into TL blindly. Dr's do not tell us everything we need to know to allow us to make fully informed consent to the procedure. Then, we have complications afterwards and go back to them, or other dr's and are brushed off and treated as hysterical, crazy women. We are here to help you any way we can.
If you are still seeing this dr, may I suggest finding another one? He is not going to be honest with you in light of past performance. Get copies of your records from this dr. Sign a request form at their office, and get your records.
Are you suffering from any complications with your cycles? Are you on birth control or anything? We can help more as we get these answers. These are things that help us help you figure out what is going on with you. Take Care and hope to hear from you again soon. Cheryl :o)

Take the Tubal Ligation I.Q. Test Are you outraged? Feel as though you and other women were not (are not) being informed? Think that a class action lawsuit should be filed on behalf of post tubal women because information was and still is being withheld by the ACOG! The CPTwomen invites all reading this forum to join the CPTwomen and communicate with us at the members' forum. All posting here and conversation here has been moved to the members' forum.

CPTwomen members have testified in front of the IL and CA Court, the IL Gov. Task Force, the Sunset Review Committee, (Senator Liz Figueroa), NOW, and more. What occurred has been made a matter of public record. The CPTwomen are making public the issues which millions of other women have faced in silence. Issues such as women are not informed at the time of their tubal ligation that there is a risk of hormonal imbalance occurring. For the CPTwomen to continue its mission to move this issue to the forefront of government, we must ask for a small contribution/subscription fee from all those who wish to communicate with us and participate at the Coalition's Bulletin Board
