Post hysterectomy

by Sandy

I am so sorry you have gone through two procedures without being properly informed. You are not alone. The latest statistic that I can recall is that a full 60% of women with tubal ligations go on to have a hysterectomy. It is the consequence of the tubal surgery. It leaves you so messed up that alot of doctors would rather dispose of the problem than to try and treat it. I am bitterly opposed to hysterectomy for any reason other than cancer. But, for you, I know there are things that can help. My sister in law had a complete hysterectomy at age 29(removal of ovaries). Although she has had her fair share of problems, she has done better than any other woman I know after Hyst. In fact, at age 42, she was featured in Playboy for their 40th anniversary addition covering women over 40 still in great shape. (Of course this is a whole other subject, and a very sore point with my mother in law) LOL!!! I have really tried to analyze why she has done so well, and this is what I have concluded. First off, she follows a hypoglycemic diet, meaning she avoids all sugar and most refined carbohydrates (with the exception of potatos which she still eats) and has been very dilligent about following this diet for the past fifteen years. Second, she works out every day alternationg weight training with areobic exercise. Third, she has a close relationship with God and her church. Fourth, she closely monitors her HRT plan and changes it when it is no longer effective. I believe these steps work because: 1) as estrogen decreases we become insulin resistant. This makes us gain weight and produce too many androgenous hormones which lead to acne and hair loss and further insulin resistance, therefore, a low sugar/carb diet keeps these symptoms in check. 2) Daily exercise keeps her circulation and muscle tone at youthful levels, and increases her Happy Hormones. Additionally, weight training provokes the release of growth hormone from the pituitary, and this is the hormone which many DRs think is the key to longevity. 3) Her close relationship with God and her church have provided her with the emotional support she has needed and the FAITH that she will be well and things will work out for her. And finally, she works closely with her Dr. on HRT monitioring, working on the assumption that sometimes your body doesn't always respond to the hormone perscribed, or it becomes less effective with time. Therefore, she has switched her HRT regime from time to time. She currently uses natural estrogen( derived from plant source) and natural progesterone cream as well as natural micronized testosteone. She has also used herbs for improved sleep and mood. I can't say hers is a perfect life, but she looks 10 years younger than her real age, and quite a bit younger than me, she is in great shape with great areobic capacity and she will probably out live us all. I hope this information helps you with some of your symptoms. Good Luck aand Good Health to You!!

Take the Tubal Ligation I.Q. Test Are you outraged? Feel as though you and other women were not (are not) being informed? Think that a class action lawsuit should be filed on behalf of post tubal women because information was and still is being withheld by the ACOG! The CPTwomen invites all reading this forum to join the CPTwomen and communicate with us at the members' forum. All posting here and conversation here has been moved to the members' forum.

CPTwomen members have testified in front of the IL and CA Court, the IL Gov. Task Force, the Sunset Review Committee, (Senator Liz Figueroa), NOW, and more. What occurred has been made a matter of public record. The CPTwomen are making public the issues which millions of other women have faced in silence. Issues such as women are not informed at the time of their tubal ligation that there is a risk of hormonal imbalance occurring. For the CPTwomen to continue its mission to move this issue to the forefront of government, we must ask for a small contribution/subscription fee from all those who wish to communicate with us and participate at the Coalition's Bulletin Board
