Tl vs nursing, which sxs are which

by Sandy

I nursed all three of my children for 2 years each. With the first two, even though I may have had some subtle low estrogen symptoms, these were barely noticable and really only related to low sex drive and light sleeping patterns. (Both of which nature intends for you to have if you are nursing an infant.) However, after the TL during the csection with my third, my estrogen deficiency symptoms while nursing went from barely noticable to downright menopausal! I had night sweats so bad I had to change night gowns two to three times a night. I had fuzzy thinking, insomnia and mood swings. In retrospect, I even had a problem with my milk supply. The bottom line is that in spite of all the medical propaganda that TL are safe, it simply is not and it interferes with the function of the ovary and female hormanal feed back loop between the ovary and pituitary. So, we start from here and reconize that while some of your symptoms might improve with the weaning of your daughter, not all of your symptoms will abate, and you will need to have a hormonal blood work up at that time. We as women must accept that we cannot change what has happened to our bodies, but that we can change our attitude towards our symptoms and make sure we get correct diagnosis and treatment for what ails us! Do not settle for the PROZAC scam. Certainly prozac will alleviate some of your symptoms, not by making them better, but by making you care less about them, and therefore they interfere less with your life. BUT.....stop the meds, and they all come back. In addition, hormone deficiency in child bearing women is not a natural state and there will be health consequences if not addressed and treated properly. I wish you well and ask you to post any advise you may have for us!

Take the Tubal Ligation I.Q. Test Are you outraged? Feel as though you and other women were not (are not) being informed? Think that a class action lawsuit should be filed on behalf of post tubal women because information was and still is being withheld by the ACOG! The CPTwomen invites all reading this forum to join the CPTwomen and communicate with us at the members' forum. All posting here and conversation here has been moved to the members' forum.

CPTwomen members have testified in front of the IL and CA Court, the IL Gov. Task Force, the Sunset Review Committee, (Senator Liz Figueroa), NOW, and more. What occurred has been made a matter of public record. The CPTwomen are making public the issues which millions of other women have faced in silence. Issues such as women are not informed at the time of their tubal ligation that there is a risk of hormonal imbalance occurring. For the CPTwomen to continue its mission to move this issue to the forefront of government, we must ask for a small contribution/subscription fee from all those who wish to communicate with us and participate at the Coalition's Bulletin Board
