Menopause at 40

by Sandy

I hate to correct someones opinion, BUT menopause at 40 is NOT normal....... The average onset of menopause is 51.8 years with the average age of perimenopausal symptoms at age 47. We have got to make this clear......Less than one percent of the female population experiences menopause at age 40 or earlier. If you are post menopausal at 40 you MUST TAKE CARE to avoid hormone deficiency related illness. The way nature works is very mathematical. We all seem to think that all of life happens by chance, but it so happens that alot of nature is very predictable. For instance, left to our own devises, we as females would live out roughly two thirds of our lives before menopuase and on third after. If the age of menopause is almost 52 years, then it would hold true that the average age of death would be 78 (as 52 is exactly 2/3s of 78). Guess what the average life span is for a female in the USA??????? You got it, 78 years. Funny how the math works. So, this is JUST an average. How do you make sure you are on the right side of the average, ie how to beat the spread?????? You change the variables. You take damn good care of yourself, especially if you must undergo early menopause. This includes HRT, careful nutrition, regular exercise, and acknowledgement that because of early meno you may need to be more vigilant than others your age. On the bright side, early meno can be a BIG WAKE UP CALL....It may actually give you a head start on lifestyle changes that all your friends will have to make later anyway...... Also there are now lots of ways to beat the aging process so no one should feel or look old before their time. My sister had her eyes done and I swear, it took 8-10 years off her face. Hair color is about as natural as most women's hormones these days, and with the right diet and exercise program you could have a better figure than before menopause. SO... Just keep in mind it is not the end of the world, but DO be proactive and check out your alternatives for treatment. Also in your case, are you still breastfeeding?????? Estrogen has to be present to produce milk so if I were you I would have all the hormone tests repeated after I weaned. It may make some difference. Good Luck and Good Health To YOU!!!!!!!

Take the Tubal Ligation I.Q. Test Are you outraged? Feel as though you and other women were not (are not) being informed? Think that a class action lawsuit should be filed on behalf of post tubal women because information was and still is being withheld by the ACOG! The CPTwomen invites all reading this forum to join the CPTwomen and communicate with us at the members' forum. All posting here and conversation here has been moved to the members' forum.

CPTwomen members have testified in front of the IL and CA Court, the IL Gov. Task Force, the Sunset Review Committee, (Senator Liz Figueroa), NOW, and more. What occurred has been made a matter of public record. The CPTwomen are making public the issues which millions of other women have faced in silence. Issues such as women are not informed at the time of their tubal ligation that there is a risk of hormonal imbalance occurring. For the CPTwomen to continue its mission to move this issue to the forefront of government, we must ask for a small contribution/subscription fee from all those who wish to communicate with us and participate at the Coalition's Bulletin Board
