WAS NEVER INFORMED

by tina

i had a t.l. 2 years ago at age 36. i had most of the symptoms listed almost immediately. i went back to the doctor that did the surgery,he said my symptoms had nothing to do with the surgery.it was post partum depression and would go away. well it didnt,in the mean time i went on the internet and found alot of information, things the doctor never mentioned to me. in fact i wasnt even given a brochure to read, i didnt know anything about having the gas put into my abdoment and i woke up with having more pain than i ever had giving birth my four children, which all weighed 10 pounds each. i wasnt told that it was going to be so painful. the only thing my doctor told me was that i now have very large adhesions internally which i can feel through my abdomen and he gave me anti-inflammatory prescription for. which didnt make the adhesions go away. i still have stinging pain from that. i went to another doctor, after reading this, i told him all my symptoms and didnt mention post tubal syndrome. he told me right away i had a hormaonal imbalance, and i should be tested, that was until he asked me about my birth control method and i told him i had a tubal then he quick changed his mind. and then i said the tubal has someething to with it doesnt it, and he said ..people just like to think it does.he refused to order the hormone testing. he said your hormones shift so much anyway it wont tell me any thing. and all he really cared about was who did the surgery ( i think they all like to stick up for one another ) and he said i want you to take the birth control pills. and if you want i can prescribe prozak for the depression and mood swings. i said no .. forget it. in the meantime i was in a very severe state of depression, crying all the time, i couldnt hardly take care of my baby and my 3 year old, or my two teenagers. my husband was of no help, he didnt want to read any of the information on the internet. or anything that i had to say about it. during this time we were divorced because of this.

i later found a female doctor who immmediately told me that it was post tubal syndrome, she did nothing about the depression, she did give me a low dose birth control pill, which mentally did make me feel better, my mind felt clearer, but i had to go through all the things that i never liked about being on the pill before. i was off the pill almost 10 years because i didnt like the side effects. i gained 17 pounds in the 2 months that i was on them so i went off of them, she told me that she would prescribe another b.c. pill if that one didnt work. i asked her about hormonal testing she didnt want to do that. she said it wasnt really necessary. my periods are irregular, and after my periods are over i have a bloody discharge for about a week. also while she was doing the examination, she told me that my uterus was enlarged, which she said probably fibroids, and as she presses on my right side it hurt really bad and i jumped when she did that, she said oh, i hit your ovary. ihave never had that kind of pain, during an exam, she didnt say why it would hurt like that. should i be concerned? my left one didnt hurt. i am going to go back to her in 2 months, when my new insurance policy goes into effect.

since my surgery i have had the weight gain, up and down, major depression which feels like post partum depression that will never go away. uterine pain almost all the time. irregular periods, major mood swings.trouble sleeping, no libedo, dry irritated vagina, severe anxioty, fatigue, my skin itches, my muscles ache all the time, i am very active. i have hair loss and dizziness. i have become so forgetful. my friends say that i was so healthy looking before the surgery and i am so ill looking now. none of my friends will have this done after they have seen what i have been through.

also another question, since the surgery, my abdomen always seems so bloated, and i always feel have gas now, does this have anything to do with it?

Take the Tubal Ligation I.Q. Test Are you outraged? Feel as though you and other women were not (are not) being informed? Think that a class action lawsuit should be filed on behalf of post tubal women because information was and still is being withheld by the ACOG! The CPTwomen invites all reading this forum to join the CPTwomen and communicate with us at the members' forum. All posting here and conversation here has been moved to the members' forum.

CPTwomen members have testified in front of the IL and CA Court, the IL Gov. Task Force, the Sunset Review Committee, (Senator Liz Figueroa), NOW, and more. What occurred has been made a matter of public record. The CPTwomen are making public the issues which millions of other women have faced in silence. Issues such as women are not informed at the time of their tubal ligation that there is a risk of hormonal imbalance occurring. For the CPTwomen to continue its mission to move this issue to the forefront of government, we must ask for a small contribution/subscription fee from all those who wish to communicate with us and participate at the Coalition's Bulletin Board
