Breastfeeding is not a reliable method of birth control, as you can still ovulate and get pregnant even befoer your first period returns. However, tubal ligations can dramatically interfere with your production of breast milk. I had probably less than half the milk I had with my first two babies. I knew I wasn't getting engorged very often but thought that since my baby nursed all the time that I just did not have the opportunity to get engorged. Then I realized he was nursing continuously to get enough milk to survive. Tubal ligation done at the time of birth probably interupt the biological and chemical reactions necessary for the proper production of milk. If I were you I would not consider a tubal liagtion until after I had finish nursing. I would use condoms as they are very effective, and in spite of how your mate complains, they are the best thing for you. They prevent pregnancy, they prevent the spread of infection and disease and thus lower the risk of cervical cancer. I do not believe every woman has a bad experience with tubal ligation. BUT I do believe that enough women have been injured by this surgery that further research and investigation is warranted, but is not being done. You are only 27 years old. So many things in life can change at a drop of a hat, why do anything forever? The old saying, the only sure thing is death and taxes, well even the IRS is letting up a little and becoming a nicer agency, so maybe there is hope, maybe we can still get what we want without having to sacrifice everything to get it. Please really reconsider having this tubal Ligation. It could be the worst mistake of your life, or it might be just fine. Are you willing to take this gamble when the stakes are your health and longevity, not to mention your sanity and happiness.

Take the Tubal Ligation I.Q. Test Are you outraged? Feel as though you and other women were not (are not) being informed? Think that a class action lawsuit should be filed on behalf of post tubal women because information was and still is being withheld by the ACOG! The CPTwomen invites all reading this forum to join the CPTwomen and communicate with us at the members' forum. All posting here and conversation here has been moved to the members' forum.

CPTwomen members have testified in front of the IL and CA Court, the IL Gov. Task Force, the Sunset Review Committee, (Senator Liz Figueroa), NOW, and more. What occurred has been made a matter of public record. The CPTwomen are making public the issues which millions of other women have faced in silence. Issues such as women are not informed at the time of their tubal ligation that there is a risk of hormonal imbalance occurring. For the CPTwomen to continue its mission to move this issue to the forefront of government, we must ask for a small contribution/subscription fee from all those who wish to communicate with us and participate at the Coalition's Bulletin Board
