Ovary Pain? Opinions? Am I Alone?

by Karen

Hi, this is my first post here. I had my tubes tied on June 26th of this year. I haven't experienced many of the symptoms I have read here. I dont have a problem with dryness, sadness (I have one child, am 32 years old and know I dont want any more. All my life I have only wanted one), heavy periods (they were heavy before my tubal so its not uncommon for me), low sex drive etc. Everything is fine in those areas.

However, I am not entirely pain free. The past two periods since my tubal have been normal. Its the day AFTER my period is completely over that I get severe pain around my ovaries. In July the pain was on my right side and my back and leg ached tremendously. Even after having a bowel movement, I wanted to scream. I called the doctor and he told me to take Motrin and use a heating pad. Of course, it didnt work. The pain subsided after 5 days with a pang here or there. Then my August period. Again, was normal and AGAIN the day after it ends, that horrible pain in my ovary returned but this time only on my left side with pain shooting down my leg and around my back. I have taken Motrin and used a hot water bottle but still, nothing seems to take the pain completely away.

Has anyone just experienced one symptom? Is this even a symptom? Should I go to my doctor and have him examine me? I have a feeling that, and based on what I have read here, I will be told it's in my head. When I called in July, the doctor told me it had nothing to do with my tubal and that it was menstrual related even though I was completely finished.

My mother, aunt and mother-n-law all had their tubes tied and had no problems. Again, my decision was based on several factors and with my own mind. This was something I wanted to do and other than the pain, I dont have any regrets. But I dread the thought of going through this horrible pain every month. It's as bad as having another week of a period without the bleeding. At times I dont even want to get out of bed!

Any opinions or help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Take the Tubal Ligation I.Q. Test Are you outraged? Feel as though you and other women were not (are not) being informed? Think that a class action lawsuit should be filed on behalf of post tubal women because information was and still is being withheld by the ACOG! The CPTwomen invites all reading this forum to join the CPTwomen and communicate with us at the members' forum. All posting here and conversation here has been moved to the members' forum.

CPTwomen members have testified in front of the IL and CA Court, the IL Gov. Task Force, the Sunset Review Committee, (Senator Liz Figueroa), NOW, and more. What occurred has been made a matter of public record. The CPTwomen are making public the issues which millions of other women have faced in silence. Issues such as women are not informed at the time of their tubal ligation that there is a risk of hormonal imbalance occurring. For the CPTwomen to continue its mission to move this issue to the forefront of government, we must ask for a small contribution/subscription fee from all those who wish to communicate with us and participate at the Coalition's Bulletin Board
