Tube removal to prevent ectopic pregnancy?

by

I have a friend whose dr told her that she should have her tubes removed to prevent her from having another tubal pregnancy. She has a 5 year old son, then two tubal pregnancies, then a 1.5 yr old son and one tubal pregnancy. The doctor(her own dr) is telling her that it could happen again, and if it does, it could kill her. What I am wondering is why didn't the dr that removed the last pregnancy remove this tube if it was damaged enough for it to cause another problem. She told me he said there wasn't any scar tissue from the previous surgery. Another thing, why remove both of the tubes because one of them has had 3 ectopics?? I just don't understand her doctors logic. Can she get post tubal syndrom from having her tubes removed rather than tied?
I just hate for her to be making an uninformed decision. I know she wants more children, as she shared with me that she hopes when they go to do her pre op that she is pregnant. I also know her husband is pressuring her to have it done cause he is afraid she might die from another ectopic pregnancy. She told me today that he wants her to have her uterus removed as well, just so she doesn't have to deal with having a period. I just don't want her to do this and regret it for the rest of her life. If anyone can share with me information concerning this matter it would be greatly appreciated.

Take the Tubal Ligation I.Q. Test Are you outraged? Feel as though you and other women were not (are not) being informed? Think that a class action lawsuit should be filed on behalf of post tubal women because information was and still is being withheld by the ACOG! The CPTwomen invites all reading this forum to join the CPTwomen and communicate with us at the members' forum. All posting here and conversation here has been moved to the members' forum.

CPTwomen members have testified in front of the IL and CA Court, the IL Gov. Task Force, the Sunset Review Committee, (Senator Liz Figueroa), NOW, and more. What occurred has been made a matter of public record. The CPTwomen are making public the issues which millions of other women have faced in silence. Issues such as women are not informed at the time of their tubal ligation that there is a risk of hormonal imbalance occurring. For the CPTwomen to continue its mission to move this issue to the forefront of government, we must ask for a small contribution/subscription fee from all those who wish to communicate with us and participate at the Coalition's Bulletin Board
