It is nice to know I am not alone

by

After reading some of the posts I am shocked to realize that what is happening to me is happening to other women. I had a TL on April 4 2001, my doctor told me that the very next day I would be feeling 75% better and could resume normal activities. I wish that had been the case, I actually felt worse and the pain from the simple "band aid" surgery was unbelievable. Several calls to the doctor's office later I was told that it was simple post surgery pain and that I needed to keep resting....(what happened to 75% improvement??). 8 days later I ended up in ER with what they now know was peritonitis, a cut to both ovaries which caused internal bleeding, 105 fever, then a second operation to find the source of my illness, 7 days in the hospital at times so sick that I almost died all courtesy of my "simple" TL procedure. I guess one of the reasons I am so angered is that the doctor was aware that I had had 3 previous c-sections which of course created a lot of scar tissue. We had discussed this and she told me that if she had any trouble with trying to use the laparscope that she would revert to a mini laparotomy to avoid causing any damage to my organs. I wish she would have kept her word....now because of the damage done to my ovaries I have pain so unreal during ovulation, I can relate to other women's comments about actually "feeling" the egg being released...my hormones are so out of whack that I don't even know myself anymore...I am angry, full of anxiety, depressed and can cry on a dime. They don't tell you this in the brochures...the doctors tell you it is a very simple procedure and you are going to be GREAT in 24 hours...tell you what, they don't make a pain killer strong enough to make me "great" anymore. I hope to gain support here....anyone that can relate to what I am going through, Please e-mail me...I need someone who understands....and I could really use the support of those who share in our new destiny.
Thank you for reading this, I hope to hear from some of you soon.
Sincerely,
Christine

Take the Tubal Ligation I.Q. Test Are you outraged? Feel as though you and other women were not (are not) being informed? Think that a class action lawsuit should be filed on behalf of post tubal women because information was and still is being withheld by the ACOG! The CPTwomen invites all reading this forum to join the CPTwomen and communicate with us at the members' forum. All posting here and conversation here has been moved to the members' forum.

CPTwomen members have testified in front of the IL and CA Court, the IL Gov. Task Force, the Sunset Review Committee, (Senator Liz Figueroa), NOW, and more. What occurred has been made a matter of public record. The CPTwomen are making public the issues which millions of other women have faced in silence. Issues such as women are not informed at the time of their tubal ligation that there is a risk of hormonal imbalance occurring. For the CPTwomen to continue its mission to move this issue to the forefront of government, we must ask for a small contribution/subscription fee from all those who wish to communicate with us and participate at the Coalition's Bulletin Board
