Response to you kidding???? |
| clouding your judgment just a little bit. Daniel Lincoln definitely bears part of the blame, but why all the rage against him? The first blocked kick hit Cody in the gut... okay that was really low - not exactly a shining moment for Lincoln. But the second was blocked when Cody penetrated the line, jumped and it hit his outstretched hand. Now granted the big guy can't jump too high, but he ain't exactly Tom Thumb coming through that line. And why aren't we also talking about the penetration allowed by our kicking team on those plays. Most kickers have to lower the angle when they're kicking from that distance (and he had come up short on the 47 yarder ealier). You allow any penetration and most likely the freaking kick will be blocked. But since this was Lincoln's second kick that was blocked - well, Katie bar the freaking door, it must ALL be Lincoln's fault. I'm not buying that. I'm sorry if you disagree, but that is just SAD to me. It's like we always need someone to blame. And it takes away from the fact that our team as a whole showed a lot of progress in this game. I gave up on Crompton two or three time already, but Kiffin is beginning to prove me wrong for that. I'm not about to start jumping on Lincoln for a bad performance as being the sole reason we lost today. Do you not remember how we were playing most of this year? Do you not remember how really, really bad our offense reeked these past two years? And here we are in Birmingham facing the No. 1 team in the country and a hated rival, BAMA, and we acutally came from behind in the 4th quarter to have a chance to beat them. What a freaking story!!! Quit crying about Lincoln and open your eyes to see how far this team has come in such a short time. We should be happy about that much! You don't think Saban is breathing a sign of relief tonight? We had him, and he knows it. Bama did what a championship team needs to do. We did not. Next year in Knoxville, we will beat them silly, and a kicker won't have much to say about it.
This game is over. Let's move on.
Go Vols!!! Beat the Gamecocks!
