The Coma Cluster of Galaxies
Credit & Copyright: O. Lopez-Cruz (INAOEP) et al., AURA, NOAO, NSF

Explanation: Almost every object in the above photograph is a galaxy. The Coma Cluster of Galaxies pictured above is one of the densest clusters known - it contains thousands of galaxies. Each of these galaxies houses billions of stars - just as our own Milky Way Galaxy does. Although nearby when compared to most other clusters, light from the Coma Cluster still takes hundreds of millions of years to reach us. In fact, the Coma Cluster is so big it takes light millions of years just to go from one side to the other! Most galaxies in Coma and other clusters are ellipticals, while most galaxies outside of clusters are spirals. The nature of Coma's X-ray emission is still being investigated.

Douglas Adams was certainly a writer with a style of his own!!

Obviously Hitchhikers Guide was great! But the Dirk Gently books were good fun, too!!

Shame he got the writer's block, and even more so that he passed away so young!

Hi-ya Kimi - I've always thought Kiwi's to be great peeps!!

Take care,

Richard

Hi Richard

Yes, I made that my sig. just after Adams died at that tragically early age. I've just changed it, after hearing this song on the radio yesterday.

A great talent, and truly original.

We used to live in England, and still have friends there. We've been back for a couple of visits since.

I'll wait in this place where the sun never shines;
Wait in this place where the shadows run from themselves.

Too long ago for you, methinks.

No, it's a British one. More appropriate for the Dark Tower than here, but never mind. If I wanted to pick a Kiwi one, it'd be The Muttonbirds' "I wish I was in Wellington", because that's where Mr Kimi is today.

Tuesday's looking okay so far. I'm having trouble waking up properly, though.

...Slowhand's guitar, I missed most of the lyrics, Kimi!

Hope the caffeine's gotten into your system, and all's well (or as well as possiblee in the absence of Mr Kimi!)
