Sometimes I like trying out new recipes.

Last week I tried a new dish called "Asian Style Chicken Noodle Soup", which I got from a local magazine. It was under "cold and flu foods" and the broth had garlic and ginger, and then you added radishes, spinach and mint leave afterwards. I messed up the noodles, because I'd never cooked fresh pasta before, but I'll know better for next time.

Today I made a "chicken divan" in the crock pot. Basically, it's chicken on broccoli florets (I added some of the stems, too.) with a creamy sauce that has some Parmesan cheese in it. It turned out really good. I had it on rice. And I have four portions to freeze and take to work.

Tomorrow I'm making shepherd's pie to freeze and take to work as needed. My aunt gave me the recipe and it's a really simple and good one.

Do you guys like cooking/trying out stuff?

Well...

January 28 2007, 9:05 AM

...when I have not much time I am not in the mood to make something special or even try a new recipe. But I try to learn from time to time new recipes. One of my main goals is to make healthy food with lots of vegetables and stuff because I eat lots of unhealthy stuff when I haven't much time to cook something decent.

Lately I have learnt how to make vegetable soup which isn't really something special but very easy to make and healthy too.

I love chinese food by the way. I should try soon to cook a few of these recipes.

Today I am going to cook a Schnitzel with rice. This is how a typical Schnitzel looks like:

I love Schnitzel.

My mom makes it sometimes, and there are a couple of restaurants here who make it too.

I've tried a couple of times, but they haven't come out perfect yet. Plus, it's a bit too much work to make for only one person. When the hubby moves, then I'll make it more often.

Especially if he helps.

In fact...

...it is very easy and fast to make. It took me alone only 40 minutes to make Schnitzel with rice and peas plus salad for two persons. The rice is ready after 10-15 minutes. Then you only have to salt the Schnitzel put it in flour, egg and breadcrumbs. The only problem is that it you have to use lots of dishes because of the flour egg breadcrumbs thing. But the kitchen was cleaned up in ten minutes. And the Schitzel turned out pretty good by the way. I heated the oil very slowly this time. So it's no big deal if you have a bit time.

It's not that it's difficult to make

But when you are going to eat alone, there are a lot of things you can make in 20 minutes rather than 40. Unless you are making enough to last a couple of days. But with Schnitzel, if I make more than just one meal, I'll just eat them all anyway.

But when my husband is here, then it'll be ok to make, even if I'm the only one cooking.
