...especially if Ozzie steps up and leads Detroit to another Cup, or contributes to another championship. His numbers are large, and growing steadily. You can do your own comparisons with some of the other goalies, some already in the Hall, and others sure to be elected, like Brodeur. Ozzie compares favorably with some of these guys, and he isn't done yet.
To me, as solid and steady as Ozzie has been for Detroit over the years, his most impressive seasons were '01-'02 with the execrable Islanders, where he was a total workhorse and maintained a 2.50 GAA, with 32 wins. Then, in '03-'04 with the sad-sack Blues, he notched a 2.24 GAA, with 31 wins. The idea that the Wings win "despite of" Ozzie was put to bed for good, with those two seasons. And that was before he picked up the butterfly-style coach, and reformed his game.
