After all the talent we lost in the off-season, I was hoping for a relatively-healthy season. Not happening. Franzen gone until March, and now Filppula out with a broken-wrist for a couple of months. Brad May caught a stick in the eye on his own bench last night, purely by accident, and they're saying he might have a damaged retina. What the hell?
On the bright side, the Wings salvaged the tail-end of a rugged western swing last night, by dominating the surprisingly-listless Flames. Despite our early struggles, the team is actually playing pretty well, aside from brief stretches of complete defensive irresponsibility. The goaltending is suspect, with Ozzie off to another slow start, and Howard looking great at times, and awful at others. Datsyuk is finally finding his legs. Bertuzzi is playing well, but he just can't score to save his life. I think he'll start finding the net pretty soon.
