One more thing...

The Detroit River Days Festival is this weekend, which I've heard good things about. It's right on the riverfront, which is about as good as it gets in Detroit on a nice sunny day. Lots of events, constant free music -- I believe there's a Beatles tribute band Saturday night, and I think I remember you being a Beatles-fan. They have several stages going, and a good mix of musical styles.

Events like this are very safe and well-policed, in my experience.
