Adding up the pros and cons of moderate alcohol-use, vs. the benefits of abstinence, I would have to conclude that total abstinence is better. We all know excessive alcohol-usage is deadly and destructive. Recent studies that show a single drink per day is better than total abstinence, do not convince me, especially since such studies usually state that "if you don't drink at all now, don't start." And then, I'm Irish, so I have more alkies in the family-tree than I have falling October leaves in my yard.

I enjoy a drink now and again, but there's always that little twinge of guilt, in the back of the mind. Even when I'm not trying to get into tip-top shape, as I am now.
