Big Dan...
.....Doughty and Bergeron were players that I would have had on my wish list, but wasn't sure if they'd actually make the cut... maybe I should have put them on from the beginning. Stamkos was a flavour of the day pick, they way he's been lighting the lamp this season, maybe he's just a little too young, but the boy can score. Bergeron will bring better all-around play, being able to defend and take key face offs as well.
.....Doughty was someone I really wanted, but like Stamkos, Green was another flavour of the day. Again, it's hard to leave Green off the roster considering he's the top scoring defenseman in the League. It's like what the TSN commentators said, that would have been like leaving Paul Coffey out of the lineup in the 90s, almost unthinkable. I'm glad I was wrong on the Doughty pick, I'm actually happy to see he made the cut.
.....As for Morrow, I hate to disagree with Yzerman on this one, but I do. I don't think Morrow will hurt the team, but I don't think he's the best choice. Maybe Fisher wasn't the best pick either (another flavour of the day pick), but I think Fisher would have been a better pick than Morrow. I think Morrow is a lazy player, not really a "heart and soul" type who wears the Maple Leaf on his heart, and I think Fisher is a whole lot more hard work, which I think is going to be the role Morrow needs to fill. I'm not convinced he can do it. With that said, both Doan and Smyth would have been better picks than Morrow as well, considering their history of giving everything to Team Canada over the past few years...D' |
