my to-be-ten year old daughter (yes, daughter) wants a fly fishing theme for her birthday.
what to do, what to do.
my concerns run the gamut...
1) will girls of her age be interested? (she thinks so)
2) activities?
3) party favors (she thinks give them each a fly she's tied... they do have sharp hooks)
any help would just thrill me.....

Well in your post you didn't say if you had any streams, rivers, lakes, or fish hatchery nearby your area. If you did, you could take the girls fly fishing. Talk about fish habitat, insect habitat, stream habitat, etc. Fly fishing is basically an outdoor sport which incorporates many ideas for a party theme. If you can't actually get to any water, you could devise a mock up fly rod, for example a thin flexible limp from a tree, tie some fishing line to it and put a mock up fly or other object on the other end of the fly line. Have the girls pratice casting to an object to see if they hit the target. Another idea is they can make a fly, if you have the equipment. The flies don't actually have to be a real insect pattern, but let them come up with there own ideas. Other party games can be adjusted to a fishing theme. Like carrying a ball (ball represents the fish eggs) between your knees and going uphill to a set point. This could be like a relay race. This kinda game could represent a salmon trying to go upstream to spawn! The list could go on for any game. Hope that helps.

ummm let c i think u have a serious prob... well 1 of all are her friends into fly fishin???? anywayz if there her true friend they will come anywayz mayeb u should take them fishin or sumtin but i dont really know GOOD LUCK

ummm opk no offense but her frends wud totally get sooo bored at that party, at her age i was into like nails and sparkly lip gloss and disney movies, britney spears etc. like girly silly stuff. i dont think that wud b much fun. and wat wud they do w/ a fly fishing hook thing??????

not all girls are only into sparkles and foof. my very feminine 10 yr old and other nieces love that stuff. Take them fly fishing make a fish cake and gummy worms snacks have fun
