70 is a big year, so you need to make it special. one idea is to have a decades party, which is what i did for my dads birthday a few years back. get everybody to dress up in a decade your mother in law has lived in (1930's to the present). bring pictures of her in each decade, and put them on the walls or show them during the party. after dinner, have all of the guests write a memorable moment that they shared with her, and read them out loud later. put all of them into a book so she can look at it any time she wants to. my father really liked this idea, and he still has the book in his bedroom. | |
