Funny,we just had an egyptian b-day party a couple of years ago for my then 8 yr.old son. For decorations, we made palm trees, pyramids from construction paper. We also downloaded egyptian clipart and printed these. We put these items up on the walls of our house. On the birthday cake, I made a 3-d pyramid out of construction paper and placed on the cake. I also purchased some small toy camels and some toothpicks w/plastic tops that looked like palmtree leaves. I found these at a party store. For activities, we used some discount store brand of barbie dolls to make mummies. We used regular cotton string, polytype string and thin strips of cloth. Wrap the string/fabric around the entire head and body of the doll several times. Once the body is covered, we then brushed the outside with some wax based sealant (adult can do this part). You let the dolls dry for awhile and you have a mummy! We also made these necklaces with shrinky dinks material, which can be found at a walmart or hobby lobby. On the shrinky dinks we drew heiroglyphics. You can search the internet for heiroglyphics translations. These necklaces were actually worn by egyptians and usually had the names of the wearer on them. We also had a treasure hunt w/egyptian clues. Hope that helps.
