      Can someone explain thouroghly the letters {HD-A, HD-Clear, HD-B} used in evaluating hips in Dobermans? I understand that HD-free would be better than HD-B but I see some breeders who use dogs with hips that are designated HD-A or HD-B. I assume because the gene pool is so small . . ? . . but I really don't understand completely how it affects the puppy's likelyhood of having problems. For instance if a male was HD-A and the female was HD-A, does that mean there is more likelyhood of problems than if one parent was HD-B and the other HD-clear? What is generally an acceptable risk as far as useing NON HD-free dogs as breeders? Am I correct about there just not being enough HD-clear Dobermans(yet) to only breed the ones with "perfect" hips. Thanks in advance for the explanation
