non AKC agility?September 25 2008 at 12:41 PM | Lisa O. (no login) from IP address 206.212.190.113 |
| Hi everyone, it's been a while since I have posted. It's good to be back. I was just wondering if anyone knows of agility events that do not require AKC papers. Last November I rescued a wonderful purebred 18 month old red dobie boy, from an animal shelter in New Jersey. He is absolutley gorgeous and came to me when I really needed him. ( I had just put my red dobie girl Ella to sleep, she had bone cancer, she was only 8). He is very smart and very high energy. I thought that agility would be right up his alley as he loves to run and jump and show off. Unfortunatly every site I go on is AKC and I don't have papers for him. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

register him with AKC even without papers if he is obviously a purebred doberman. You can get what they call an ILP (Indefinite Listing Privilege) by sending two photos and a vet certificate that he is neutered. And some money, of course.
Just go to the AKC website (www.akc.org) and click on the registration link. Follow their instructions. Once you get his number, he'll be eligible for all performance events including agility. One member of our training club has a terrific male dobe rescue who has consistently been in the Agility Top Twenty for years with his ILP number.
Happy trialing...
