Hi everyone, I'm running into problems keeping my alignment straight while executing the pendulum shuffle. My centerline is either too closed, or I move diagonally, or both! I guess I don't really understand how to keep my centerline open, while still tapping my front foot - In my bai jong, my feet are separated by maybe 6 lateral inches, so to tap my front foot with my rear, I have to move the rear diagonally rather than just forward. That leads to me either shifting to the right some (if I keep my centerline open), or closes my centerline (if I try to compensate for the lateral movement by pulling my lead foot into the center some). Is it as easy as rotating my rear heel in to make the tap? Anyone have any tips or advice?
Everybody I've ever known had problems with this starting out. The way I handled it was to conciously "think" about moving the "tapped" foot "out" each time. That and I checked my alignment after each move.
